God as an Obedient Son
Sonship is not just a metaphor God uses to reveal himself to us; he actually became a son to human parents. In his role as Mary and Joseph’s child, we can see what the faithfulness of God looks like when it is embodied in a son. This faithfulness and loyalty that not only obeys parents, but honors them, has no expiration date. Sons and daughters of all ages should be loyal to their parents the way Jesus was to his. Honoring our parents, regardless of their shortcomings and imperfections, is an opportunity to demonstrate the faithfulness we see in God and manifest in the life of Jesus. (Scripture: Luke 2:41-52)
